Cradlewise Crib Pros and Cons

Posted in: ,

At Nightingales, we are no stranger to smart baby products. From heart rate monitors to AI cameras to cribs that soothe and rock your baby, we try them, and we are honest about our opinions! We had the opportunity to try out the Cradlewise in our home and trial it on multiple babies. Additionally, we have over 100 Nightingales as part of our team and many have worked with the cradlewise as well. As a Newborn Care Specialist, Postpartum Doula & Sleep Consultant I want to give you my honest review of the Cradlewise Crib Pros and Cons!

If you are curious how the Cradlewise compares to the SNOO, you might want to check out our comparison blog!

Cradlewise Motion

This is the Cradelwise bread and butter. The Cradlewise has an up and down motion that mimics a parent’s natural bouncing when holding a baby.

Through the app you can control if you want the motion to be slow and gentle or quicker with a bit more oomph! [Even on its highest setting we were comfortable with the amount of movement.] You can choose to keep the movement on the entire night, or to have it only respond to your baby with movement.

Smart Bassinet

Cradlewise actually learns your baby’s sleep patterns and can recognize when your baby should be trying to go back down to sleep vs when it’s time for them to wake up. It recognizes your baby’s quiet phase of waking up and starts soothing your baby before they even start fussing. [Pretty cool]

The Cradlewise monitors their movement and breathing patterns with the camera. It has the goal of noticing when your baby is beginning to wake up and responding to them to help them get back to sleep before they have the chance to even fully wake up!

We love that it has a video camera built right in so you can check in on your baby while the camera monitors if they are awake or asleep. It also has built-in adjustable white noise that plays.

How long does the Cradlewise Last?

How big are the biological parents? The Cradlewise grows from a bassinet into a crib and can generally be used for the first 2 years, but that will depend on how long your baby is! It is a mini-crib, so large/tall families might need an intermediate option between the Cradlewise and a “big kid” bed. We recommend keeping toddlers in their crib for as long as possible.

The bouncing feature can continue to be used for older babies and toddlers. We don’t recommend keeping it on all night as it will be a hard transition to a stationary surface, but it’s a nice to have tool. [We haven’t tested the Cradlewise on toddlers.]

Do we recommend the Cradlewise Crib?

You know, we didn’t think we would love it as much as we did!

I think the cradlewise would be a particularly good fit for a family who is looking for an option that is highly responsive and that can grow with their baby.

It isn’t a good fit for families with multiples, unless you want to invest in more than one!

It is also very heavy. It’s similar to an actual crib and as such isn’t a highly portable option, parents should keep that in mind.
